Who Am I?

About Me - The Author

If you're wondering whether I'm some sort of parenting expert, wonder no more.  I'm not.  I've got about as much expertise in motherhood (and parenthood) as a Buddhist Monk.  No.  I'm not an expert at all.  The one thing I do have over those lovely Buddhist Monks, though, is a little bit of experience.  Not that I'm saying Buddhist Monks don't have experience.  I'm just saying I'm pretty sure, as they don't generally have children (I'm not certain this is a fact, but I'm pretty sure it is), and I do, I have a little more experience than them.

Well.  That's already enough prattling on for one day.  Here's some more useful information about me which you might be interested in.  If you haven't guessed already, I am the mother of two young children.  My daughter, Chloe, is four now (going on fourteen, too, I might add) and my youngest - my son, Austin - is two (and what a busy boy he is).  As well as my two children, I have a husband - who is terrific, I must say - a cat named Shadow (who is, sadly, constantly on the lookout for potential threats - aka, my two children), a blue-tongue-lizard (named Larry the Lizard) and enough washing in the washing basket to almost count for an entire other family member.  I also have terrific parents, who I'm lucky enough to live relatively close to - and who provide me and my small clan with the most amazing level of help and support - and a lovely brother and sister - and, since April last year, a wonderful brother-in-law, too - who I, unfortunately, (due to geographical constraints and busy schedules) don't see nearly often enough.

Why the blog?  As well as trying to gain some exposure as a writer (as writing is something I'm extremely passionate about), I also wanted to create this blog to share with my family, friends, and anyone who's interested, some of the amazing experiences I have with my two children, who I adore and love dearly (in fact, I couldn't possibly imagine my life without them). And to offer people an insight into the life and mind of a regular, everyday parent (a parent with no expertise whatsoever on the subject of parenthood).  And to demonstrate the fact that in some of the more difficult moments experienced as a parent (ie. The Mad Moments of Motherhood) perhaps entertainment (and even a funny side) can be found in the actions – even some of the worst actions – of our children.

I hope you, whoever who are, enjoy reading my blog.  I am planning to update it with regular (weekly, fortnightly or monthly, if life becomes really super hectic) posts - which will hopefully provide you with something to relate to or, at the very least, a small giggle - so please come back and visit again soon!  I’d also really love your comments, and for you to share some of your own experiences with me, particularly if you can relate.
